This is Brianna and her dad, Jeremy, and it is one of my all-time favorite baby portraits.
Jeremy owns a construction and roofing company and is a big, strong, rough looking guy with these giant hands.
Brianna is a tiny little baby girl.
I love the contrast between the dark shirt and light skin; and the giant rough hands and the frail, soft little body; and the tough dad, and the trusting baby.
These are the images that move me to do what I do.
I hope you love this image as much as I do and as much as Brianna's mom and dad do.

Isaac's parents got things rolling in 2008, as he was the first baby born at the new Memorial Hospital in 2008.
Isaac's mom had just purchased her First Moments session a few days earlier, in anticipation of her husband leaving for Iraq. Neither of them thought Dad would be around for the baby's birth due to his deployment, but SURPRISE! Isaac made his appearance about a week before Dad had to leave.
It was an emotional event for everyone.
Isaac's parents were presented with their First Moments DVD slideshow, which you can see here, as well as their online gallery the very next evening after we photographed. We wanted to make sure that Dad got to see it before leaving.

The Goal of First Moments
Our purpose in making available a program like this is to provide parents of new-borns a way to capture, in a candid, relaxed way, the fun emotion and excitement of having a new little one. It's important to us to arrive within the first couple of days after the baby is born so that everything is still fresh and new to the new family. We can do the session at the hospital or at the home of the family... wherever they are most comfortable with us being.
In addition to the candid, photojournalistic style of photography, we also make it our goal to capture some great portraits of baby too!

Those first couple of days after your new baby is born is just a blur. As you know, we love babies and so we're excited to be rolling out a brand new program for brand new parents.
It's called our 1st Moments program, and it's for parents with a brand new baby.
What we will do is come to your home or the hospital within the first 2 - 3 days after the baby is born. Wherever parents and baby are, that's where we'll go. Perhaps you are more comfortable at your home. Many parents would be. Or, maybe you would like the session done at the hospital as a way to capture the actual memory and feel of the time of the birth.
Either way, we will come and do a photojournalistic session to capture Mom, Dad, and baby (and visitors too), just enjoying each other in those 1st Moments together. These are unposed, real-life images that more acurately capture the emotions of the family as they begin to get to know each other. We want you totally unaware that there is a photographer in the room.
"Is this something that would be just for first-time parents?" NO! This would be great for any parent wanting to capture a storybook session with their new baby.

July 3rd is my daughter's birthday. She just turned 6. For her birthday we went to the park to spend the day.
No, the cute little redhead in the photo is not my daughter. That would be my grand-niece.
Oh, man... It's hard to believe I'm a grand-something now. Does that make me a grand-uncle? Or is it a great-uncle? In any case, it means that my newphew is now a father, and my brother-in-law is now a grandpa! It also means that I'm getting that much closer to being a grandpa! Yikes!
Well, I certainly don't feel like a grandpa, or even close to being one.
Two weeks ago, at Chris and Kristen's wedding & reception, I walked 9 miles that day, and that was after a 3 mile run that morning before leaving for the wedding.
I gotta stay in shape and stay young. Most of my customers are almost or more than half my age. They certainly don't want a slow dinosaur for a photographer.
So, to serve you better, I hike, walk, and run to stay healthy and in shape. When I photograph your wedding, or family, or Senior, I put everything I've got into it. I'm passionate about giving you an awesome experience, no matter what I'm photographing for you.
Especially at a wedding... Weddings are long days of running non-stop from the time I arrive to the time I leave. A man at Chris & Kristen's wedding told me that I'm the hardest-working wedding photographer he's ever seen.
Well, that may or may not be true, but I certainly do work hard for all my clients.
Many of you already know that we have 6 children of our own. We love kids. We especially love providing parents enduring memories of their children through our portraits.
Joshua is part of our 1 Year Wall Panel program for newborns. We photographed him at newborn, 4 months, 8 months, and we'll do it again at 12 months. When it's all done, Joshua's parents will receive a 10" x 20" wall panel composite print with their favorite image from each session. That's along with all the other products they receive as part of this package.
This is a composite print that I put together for the family from just the last session. As you can see, Joshua is at that special age where he's learning to sit up by himself and is developing his own personality and expressions.
What a great age!
The most fun part of all this, is that the session was done in Joshua's living room. Although we brought all of our studio equipment, we didn't need to use it for these portraits. All these were done just with window light and one big reflector (that Joshua's mom held for me). We didn't need to set up any lights; no tripods... nothing. Just Joshua, a blanket, a reflector and me with my camera.
Simple. In fact, all the baby portraits you see on this site were done in the client's home.
We find that makes for a more relaxed baby, a more relaxed mom, and a much more relaxed photographer! :-)
